To all of our valued clients
An open letter from the President of AmbuTrans.
On Friday June 10, the Government of Ontario released plans to introduce
legislation to regulate the medical transportation industry by setting defined
standards for transporting patients between health care facilities. On the
same day, the Ontario Office of the Ombudsman commended the Ministries of
Transportation and Health and Long-Term Care for committing to work together to
increase regulation of the industry.

At AmbuTrans, we have been in support of increased regulation for more than 15
years and have worked closely with both municipal and provincial governments to
lead the regulation discussion in Ontario. I am pleased that our organization
has been a key part of this dialogue and has contributed to the development of
the Ombudsman’s recommendations.
As the largest and longest established Medical Transportation Service in
Ontario, we believe we have a leadership role to play in moving the regulation
agenda forward through our business practices. Our in-house standards for
instance, which were developed in alignment with the Ambulance Act of Ontario,
have become the benchmark for the industry.
We believe it is vitally important for healthcare consumers in Ontario to have
confidence in the quality of service they receive from us. The Ombudsman’s
announcement demonstrates our dedication to providing the highest level of
customer service and to being a leader in the medical transportation industry.
